How does Habitat work?
Families partner with Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico to build better lives for themselves and their children, and help improve their communities.
- Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico builds and rehabilitates affordable homes for hardworking families in partnership with volunteers, private and public donors and the community.
- Partner families must complete 320 hours of sweat equity on their future home and 80 hours of educational workshops.
- Once the house is completed, the family acquires the home through a 25-year mortgage at 0% interest and no profit for Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico.
Monthly homeowner payments are placed in a fund, which helps the construction of additional homes.
